Reader, we have been sick this week. If you are also in the Twin Cities, you know that we also got our first blizzard of the season.
So, against reason, Drew and I went outside in the elements and made the trek to SotaRol.
Possibly because we were sick, or possibly because it’s the truth, our overall endorsement is a shrug and a nod and a, “Yeah, alright.” SotaRol seems like a promising fast casual concept. Our fried bagel sushi roll was solid. The fish tasted fresh, and the outside had a pleasing crunch. My 5 Spice Pork SotaRito was likewise good enough. The pork was tender and flavorful, but only Minnesota spicy. I enjoyed it, but honestly, it wasn’t anything to write home about.
I think SotaRol has a lot of potential, and it’s obvious they want to expand into a chain. SotaRol, if you’re reading this, might I suggest Dinkeytown for your next location? You wouldn’t be deserted on snowy nights like you are down at 50th and France. Also, even Chipotle has booze. I recommend you follow suit.
And reader, if you too are fighting a cold, call out for pho instead.
